Best known in modern times from the musical “Hamilton”, the Marquis de Lafayette was a man of conviction who fought in the American War of Independence against the British, commanding American troops. George Washington made him a general at age 19, and later endorsed him as a son. In 1781, Lafayette led the battle of Yorktown which helped win the war, and is considered a national hero to this day in both France and the USA.
Trudon’s stone-colored wax bust of Lafayette has been molded from an original sculpture at the Louvre museum in Paris. Each piece is hand-finished to remove seam lines and any other imperfections. The hardness of the wax makes it easy to dust, so it should last a very long time as a decorative object.
